Privacy Policy

How ART Coach handles on-device configuration data, microphone analysis, optional iCloud Sync, support messages, and website requests.

1. Scope

ART Coach is developed and operated by Jose Velez ("ART Coach," "we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy describes how data is handled when you use ART Coach on iOS, iPadOS, or macOS (the "App") or visit artcoachapp.com (the "Website").

Core App functionality runs on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync (Pro feature), configuration content is synchronized through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service.

2. Data Processing Overview

ART Coach is designed to minimize data collection:

  • No advertising SDKs
  • No third-party analytics SDKs
  • No cross-app or cross-site tracking
  • No external telemetry backend for configuration usage

Most data is stored locally on your device. Optional sync is handled through Apple services you choose to enable.

3. Information We Process

A. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

ART Coach stores user-generated technical configuration data, including:

  • Speaker layout, capability, placement, and seating settings
  • Sound strategy, listening intent, emphasis, and target curve settings
  • Calculated ART parameter values (for example: Fsiso, Support Level, support ranges)
  • Saved configurations, templates, folders, version history, notes, and custom names (Pro)
  • Imported microphone calibration profiles (for example: UMIK-1/2 serial numbers, correction curves, orientation)
  • Room noise check history (noise levels, timestamps, input-device name, classification, confidence, dominant noise region, and an optional note; no audio recordings)
  • App preferences (for example: onboarding state, appearance settings, feature flags)
  • App-group, widget, local indexing, or shortcut metadata used by Apple platform features (for example: widget summaries, Spotlight keywords, Siri Shortcuts)

This data is stored via standard Apple platform storage mechanisms (for example: local files, UserDefaults, app containers, and app group containers where applicable).

A.1 Microphone Access

ART Coach requests microphone access to assess room background noise levels. This helps you evaluate whether ambient conditions are suitable for calibration measurements. Audio is analyzed in real time and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. The app stores only the room-noise summary fields listed above, not audio data.

You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

A.2 Imports, Exports, Clipboard, and Sharing

ART Coach can read files you deliberately select, including microphone calibration files and .artcoach configuration files. A calibration import stores the parsed profile data needed by the App; it does not upload the selected file to ART Coach.

The App can create setup sheets, detailed references, PDFs, text files, target-curve files, and .artcoach configuration files, and it can copy configuration text to the system clipboard. An export leaves the App only when you choose a destination through the system share or save interface. Files or clipboard content you send to another app, person, storage provider, or device are then handled under that destination's practices and your choices.

B. Optional iCloud Sync (Pro Feature)

If enabled, ART Coach uses CloudKit to sync selected configuration content across your devices.

Synced content may include:

  • Saved configuration inputs and calculated outputs, including layout, speaker capabilities and placement, strategy, intent, emphasis, grouping, target-curve settings, and ART parameters
  • Templates (reusable starting-point configurations)
  • Folder hierarchy and related library metadata
  • Version history
  • Notes and custom naming

CloudKit Sync does not include live microphone audio, imported microphone calibration profiles, or room noise check history.

When iCloud Sync is enabled:

  • Data is processed by Apple as part of iCloud/CloudKit services
  • Data may be linked by Apple to your Apple ID for functionality
  • Data retention and deletion behavior within iCloud is controlled by Apple account settings and Apple policies

If iCloud Sync is disabled, synced content stops updating across devices, but previously synced iCloud data is not automatically removed. You can delete iCloud data through Apple settings.

C. Support Communications

If you contact us (for example by email), we process the information you provide in that message (such as your email address and message content) to respond and provide support.

D. Website Data

The Website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. ART Coach website code stores only your light/dark appearance preference in your browser's local storage.

Cloudflare, our hosting, content-delivery, security, and Worker-observability provider, automatically processes limited request and security information, such as IP address, browser and device type, requested page, date and time, request status, and security signals. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies when needed to provide security features. This information is used to deliver and secure the Website, diagnose failures, and prevent abuse. It is not used by ART Coach for behavioral advertising or cross-site tracking.

The Website includes an optional ART Coach overview video. Its preview image is hosted directly by ART Coach, and the Website does not contact YouTube when the page first loads. If you choose Play, the video loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain. At that point, Google/YouTube may process your IP address, browser and device information, and video interaction data, and may use local storage or similar technologies under its own policies. ART Coach does not receive directly identifying visitor data through the embed, although YouTube may provide aggregate video-performance statistics to the channel owner.

4. Information We Do Not Use for Tracking or Advertising

We do not use ART Coach data for:

  • Behavioral advertising
  • Data broker activity
  • Building cross-app tracking profiles
  • Selling personal information

We do not intentionally collect:

  • Precise location data
  • Advertising IDs
  • Contacts, photos, or microphone recordings for analytics/advertising

5. Third-Party Services

ART Coach relies on Apple platform services where applicable:

  • App Store / In-App Purchase: Apple processes product availability, purchases, billing, refunds, transaction verification, and entitlement status. ART Coach receives the product and entitlement information needed to unlock or restore Pro, but not your payment-card details.
  • Apple platform diagnostics: Depending on your device and Apple account settings, Apple may process App Store usage, crash, or diagnostic information under Apple's policies. ART Coach does not embed a separate analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
  • CloudKit / iCloud: Optional sync and storage if enabled
  • iCloud Backup: Device backups based on your Apple settings
  • Siri & Shortcuts / WidgetKit / Core Spotlight: OS-level integrations for App functionality
  • Remote Notifications: Silent push notifications from Apple for iCloud Sync change detection (no user-facing notifications are sent)
  • Cloudflare: Website hosting, content delivery, and security
  • YouTube / Google: Optional embedded Website video, loaded only after you choose Play through YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain

These services are governed by the applicable provider's terms and privacy documentation:

ART Coach does not integrate with non-Apple ad or analytics networks. The optional YouTube video is not used for behavioral advertising or Website analytics by ART Coach and is not loaded until you choose to play it; aggregate video-performance statistics may still be available through YouTube.

ART Coach does not sell or provide App configuration data to third-party advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers. Apple processes information when you use Apple-provided services such as the App Store, iCloud, CloudKit, Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, widgets, platform diagnostics, or remote-notification infrastructure. Cloudflare processes limited Website request, operational, and security information to deliver and protect the Website.

Any service provider that processes personal information on behalf of ART Coach is required, through applicable contractual terms and law, to provide the same or equivalent protection described in this Privacy Policy. Apple and Cloudflare may also process information under their own terms and privacy policies when providing services directly to you.

6. How We Use Information

We process data only as needed to:

  • Run App features you request
  • Save and restore your configuration workflows
  • Sync selected content via iCloud if enabled
  • Provide support when you contact us
  • Maintain App reliability and security

Where applicable, we rely on:

  • Contractual necessity: to provide core App functionality you requested
  • Legitimate interests: to operate, secure, and improve the App in a privacy-preserving way
  • Consent or user choice: for optional features you enable (such as iCloud Sync) and for loading the optional embedded YouTube video when you select Play

8. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or objection to processing of personal information controlled by ART Coach. You may also have rights to data portability, to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection or supervisory authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Most App configuration data is stored only on your device or in your private iCloud account and is not accessible to ART Coach. Use the App, device settings, or Apple account settings to manage that data. For personal information ART Coach controls, such as support communications, submit a request to support@artcoachapp.com. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill a request. If information cannot reasonably be linked to you, we may be unable to locate or act on it without additional details.

9. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. We do not share data with third-party advertising networks or data brokers.

Data may be processed by Apple when you use Apple platform services (for example iCloud Sync or App Store purchase workflows).

When you deliberately export, copy, or share configuration content, the destination you select receives that content. ART Coach does not choose the recipient or transmit exports to an ART Coach server.

We may disclose information if required by law or legal process.

10. Retention and Deletion

Retention

  • Local App data remains until you modify, reset, delete, or uninstall it.
  • If iCloud Sync is enabled, synced content remains in iCloud until removed through App actions or Apple account settings.
  • Room noise check history is stored locally and automatically limited to the six most recent checks.
  • Imported calibration profiles remain locally until you remove them or uninstall the App.
  • Exported files remain wherever you saved or shared them until you delete them from that destination.
  • Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to address the request and meet legal obligations.
  • Website request and security logs are retained according to our hosting provider's operational settings and then deleted or aggregated.

Deletion Options

You can delete data by:

  1. Resetting the current configuration from in-app settings
  2. Deleting saved configurations or folders in the App (Pro)
  3. Removing imported microphone calibration profiles in the App
  4. Disabling iCloud Sync to stop future syncing
  5. Removing the App's iCloud data through Apple account or iCloud settings
  6. Deleting exported files from the destinations where you saved or shared them
  7. Uninstalling the App to remove remaining local App data from that device

11. Security

We rely on Apple platform security controls (such as app sandboxing and platform encryption protections) and reasonable administrative safeguards appropriate to the App's design.

No method of storage or transmission is completely risk-free.

12. Children's Privacy

ART Coach is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

13. International Users

ART Coach is distributed globally. Data processed through Apple services (such as iCloud) may be handled according to Apple's infrastructure and account-region rules.

14. California Notice

ART Coach does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are used under California privacy laws.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and post the revised policy in the App or on our website.
